While the cancellation of the Malaysia Cup and JDT not being allowed to compete in AFC Champions League are difficult decisions to accept, I believe that the government made those decisions in the interests and welfare of Malaysians including all families involved due to the increasing Covid-19 cases and that the situation will affect our livelihoods if it continues.
Nobody can escape the threat of Covid-19. For example, Egypt star Mohamad Salah also tested positive upon travelling for international matches despite not showing any symptoms. It can happen anywhere and we can’t afford to take the risk.
JDT Technical Director Alistair Edwards had previously voiced the club’s disappointment of an early end to the 2020 season but we accept the government’s decision and understand that the health and welfare of Malaysians are important for the sake of the country’s future.
