Johor Darul Ta’zim FC (JDT) midfielder Safiq Rahim told the-afc.com about his delight of his first AFC Champions League as the Southern Tigers in kickoff their campaign against Japan’s Nagoya Grampus on Tuesday.

    While JDT competed in the previous two editions, Safiq was not with JDT after a trophy-laden first stint from 2013-2018. He rejoined the club this year.

    “Competing in the AFC Champions League is like a dream come true for me. It’s been something I’ve always wanted to do during my club career and this will be my first,” said told AFC.

    “This will be one of the best moments of my career because it’s the highest level of Asian club competition. I hope I can give the best, my very best for the team especially my boss, for JDT, and hopefully we can get some good results and achieve what we want in this edition.”

    Safiq also told AFC that he expects every match to be tough and urged his team to be at their best at all times.
