Berita Harian reported about Johor Darul Ta’zim FC’s (JDT) ‘slick’ tactic of sending their players overseas seemingly paying dividends.

Former international Azlan Johar, in his statement said, he believed that despite not getting an opportunity to play in the Portuguese league with Portimonense, Safawi received training exposure that further improved his game.

“JDT are smart, they send their players to get the experience of being abroad. Like Safawi, his return is not a failure but he returned to JDT with a new level of maturity.

“JDT have actually obtained something valuable from Safawi’s stint over there. Safawi is now more mature and this will bring plenty of advantages to his teammates,” said Azlan Johar.
